Las Vegas’ 2013 doubles champion Coco Vandeweghe defeated the #1 doubles player in the world and Las Vegas 2014 quarterfinalist Timea Babos in the finals of the 2018 US Open! Coco and her Australian partner Ashleigh Barty saved three match points in route to a three set victory over the #2 seeds, Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic 3-6, 7-6(7-2), 7-6(8-6).

Barty had lost all four Grand Slam doubles finals with retired compatriot Casey Dellacqua, falling short at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open in 2013 and at last year’s French Open. She would not be denied this time partnering with a young American playing for the first time in a Grand Slam final, Coco Vandeweghe.

It’s amazing to see players like Timea Babos and Coco Vandeweghe compete right here in Las Vegas as they work their way up the rankings to be able to showcase their skills on the biggest stage tennis has to offer! “This is what our tournament is all about” says tournament director Mike Copenhaver. “The USTA Pro Circuit is a pathway to greatness and we are proud to host such a world class event. It’s exciting to watch these players as they transition into the WTA.”
